Hair 101

Shampoo and Conditioning

We highly recommend using INTERNATIONAL HAIR shampoo & conditioner, which we supply a sample of on your first purchase. Wash your hair at least once a week, While shampooing do not massage, scrub or rub hair at base. Then rinse thoroughly. For conditioning add a quarter size portion to shampooed hair and leave on 5 minutes, comb hair starting with the ends working your way up to your scalp. Rinse thoroughly and style as desired. Build-up can make the hair dry and can cause tangling so it is important to make sure the hair stays clean.

Daily

Brush or comb through hair twice a day or more as needed. Comb hair starting with the ends working your way up to your scalp. Be sure to add a few sprays of INTERNATIONAL HAIR de-tangler ahead of time, which we supply a sample of on your first purchase. This will also help with breakage. When using styling aids, such as mousse, gel, and hairspray, preferably use alcohol free products. NEVER brush curly hair dry, it must be completely wet.

Sleeping

When you are going to sleep, we highly recommend that you braid or wrap your hair with a satin scarf to prevent tangling. This will save time that would be spent untangling the hair the next morning. After waking up, unwrap and comb through hair beginning at the ends and working your way up to roots. Style as usual. NEVER go to bed with damp or wet hair. For wavy or curly hair, we recommend you wet the hair every morning with water and INTERNATIONAL HAIR detangler before brushing.

Static

In colder months, you may experience some static. The best way to deal with this is to dampen your hands with water, and rub hand together so they are warm. Run the palms of your hands over your hair, without actually touching your hair. This process should help control the static.

Shedding

There is a difference between shedding and breakage. When you brush or comb your hair, run your fingers through it or put it in a ponytail, all these things will cause hair to break. However shedding comes from the weft which is what our hair will not do. Make sure you brush or comb your hair very gently form the bottom up and you should see minimal breakage.

Chemical Usage

It would be advisable NOT to chemically treat this hair yourself. You MUST ONLY seek the advice of a hair colour specialist that specializes in this kind and texture of hair. Chemically treating the hair extension yourself may cause irreparable damage to your own and your INTERNATIONAL HAIR extension.

*Although INTERNATIONAL HAIR extensions are 100% real human remy hair, they are not receiving nutrients from the scalp like your own hair. Therefore heat is your hair extensions biggest enemy. The more you use on it, the shorter the life span of your hair. We cannot guarantee that the hair will remain silky if you use the blow dryer, flat iron, or curling iron. We highly recommend using a heat protector before applying heat to your INTERNATIONAL HAI.
